Remote Work & Working From Home!

I love remote work. I knew it always existed, but it truly had it's time to shine during the Global Pandemic. Of course, going into an office and getting out of the house is important, but having more autonomy makes having a job - easier. In other words, having a work-life balance is actually doable with remote work! Regardless of your lifestyle, we all have things that we need to do and we want to do. Whether it is spending more time with your pets, your children, your parents, your friends or your significant other or tackling that hobby that you always wanted to do, but never had time to. Remote work doesn't mean that you are confined to your home office setup or your kitchen table in your house - but rather, you can change it up going to a coffee shop, or a shared workspace, or even traveling around the country or world. I personally find it a wonderful way to make having a job fun and to keep it fresh. I also believe that helps with efficiency and effectiveness of work.

Now that we have all had a taste of working from home, I doubt that it is going away any time soon. Of course, the big wig CEOs are going to say that going back to the office helps with mental health and helps to revitalize downtown areas ... I would like to see feasible and honest studies on both of those accusations. There are SO many possibilities of what corporate offices can be transformed into - what a lot of people are throwing around and I agree with is affordable housing (as we can currently see a huge homelessness issue that is going around the country currently). From there, let employees have more autonomy of their work-life balance. THAT will help to alleviate mental health issues.

I am a career-oriented woman. I love working and finding my purpose in the world and making it happen. But I also know there are so many other components to life that are just as important too. Spending time with family, friends, pets, and yourself is vital to ensure your mental health is in check. Working remotely allows an individual to be able to do their job, but also be able to balance the rest of life too - in a fun and resourceful way.

I am aggravated to see the shortsightedness of many companies currently and the lack of vision of seeing all of the positive opportunities that can come from remote work. I'm sure many of them will figure that out soon enough. If anything, this allows the 'little guy' to have a chance in the world now. In other words, if many companies go back to working in the office many wonderful employees will leave and go to a startup that now has the competitive advantage of being fully remote.

This country and world is fueled by innovation and the future - it's baffles me as to why many leaders in the marketplace do not see that. Working remotely is truly the future and the way to go. I figured I wrote this blog post in hopes to put the energy out there (I'm sure many other people are feeling as well) that remote work should be here to stay. When I see something with potential, I latch on.
